Vegetation Community Classification Study at Fort Chaffee

FTN has an on-call contract with the Military Department of Arkansas, which facilitates rapid response by our firm to individual task order requests. We have been involved with projects completed at Camp J.T. Robinson (near Little Rock) and Fort Chaffee (near Fort Smith). Historically, work has included environmental compliance, GIS support, updating Natural Resource Management Plans, mapping forest stands, and biological sampling.

FTN also provided the Military Department of Arkansas with a vegetation community classification study at Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center. This project identified 25 vegetation communities there, using geospatial technology and field vegetation plots. The information was also utilized to identify and correlate preferred American burying beetle (an endangered species) habitats on a base-wide scale.
